American Wines Sirah & Syrah

CARINA CELLARS CENTRAL COAST “CLAIRVOYANT” SYRAH BLEND’07 – “Marked by mineral, graphite, herb and dried berry flavors that are tight, clean and full-bodied, showing red berry flavors that are pure and persistent. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre.”…………55.99

CONCANNON SAN FRANCISCO BAY PETITE SIRAH’13 – It’s a friendly wine, but a big wine.  Fermented in stainless steel, the Founders’ Tier Petite Sirah went into oak barrels and was finished in neutral French barrels saturated with 50 vintages of Petite Sirah.  The wine is inky dark from skin contact, which also makes it rich in tannins.  The AVA is San Francisco Bay, and the fruit came from Livermore, where the winery is located.”…29.99

DUMOL RUSSIAN RIVER “EDDIE’S PATCH”SYRAH’08 – “The 2008 Syrah Eddies Patch, which includes one-third whole clusters, displays a dark purple color, terrific texture and notes of camphor, pepper, roasted meats and abundant blackberry
and cassis fruit. This inky Syrah possesses superb intensity and richness

KALE MENDOCINOALDER SPRINGS” SYRAH09 – “Bright purple. A heady bouquet displays scents of candied dark berries and potpourri, with a peppery topnote. Juicy, penetrating black raspberry and floral pastille flavors show very good depth and put on weight with air. Dense but lively syrah, with strong finishing grip and floral-driven length.”………79.99

PEIRANO LODI “HERITAGE” PETITE SIRAH’14  The intense inky black color of this wine catches you from the first pour. It exhibits a rich deep hue with perfect clarity. The senses are tempted by an array of wild blackberries, maple, brown sugar and fresh baked boysenberry pie. The palate is mysterious and seductively filled with bright blackberries, deep dark plums, cassis and dried cranberries, with chewy moderate tannins. The finish is soft and mysterious with a hint of cocoa and black pepper.”………………..29.99

PLUMPJACK NAPA’13 – The 2013 Syrah is incredibly primary today, with huge blue/purplish fruit and tons of intensity. Like so many 2013’s, the Syrah tastes like a wine that was just drained from tank, the flavors are every bit that intense and unevolved. This is quite possibly the most raw of Plumpjack’s 2013, but the wine’s pure power simply won’t be denied.”…………….119.99

PLUMPJACK NAPA “ADAPTATION” PETITE SIRAH’13  – Thick, chewy tannins present a bold framework for gingerbread, black cherry, chai tea and plum flavors. Generous and focused, lingering on the long finish.”…………..99.99

STEELE LAKE COUNTY  “STYMIE” SYRAH’12 – “This wine towers over the competition, and not only because the bottle is an inch and a half taller than most. Its aroma is exotic and compelling, like singed rosemary branches (in a good way). The flavors bring clove, blackberry, ripe blueberry and dried-cherry notes. The texture is buoyed by fine tannins and firm acidity for a feeling of agility and strength.”…..39.99
