CONCHA Y TORO PEUMO MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA” CARMENERE’15 – Leathery berry aromas are dense and earthy, while not showing any of the green character that sometimes plagues Carmenère. A flush mouthfeel is solid and fruity, with berry and plum flavors that are roasted and meaty. Savory notes on the finish.”…..42.99

DON MELCHOR PUENTE ALTO CABERNET SAUVIGNON’13 – Initially this smells foxy, with jumpy untamed berry and plum notes racing across the nose. After the aromas come around, this is hard and choppy on the palate, while herbal black-plum and carob flavors finish more lushly than before, but still fairly tannic.”…..184.99

DON MELCHOR PUENTE ALTO CABERNET SAUVIGNON’14 – A ripe, rich and full-bodied red, with powerful flavors of dark cherry, plum pudding and currant that feature a lush creaminess. Firm and savory midpalate, ending with a long and refined finish that shows mineral and cocoa butter accents, supported by dusty tannins.”…..184.99

DON MELCHOR PUENTE ALTO CABERNET SAUVIGNON’15 – An elegant and rich-tasting red, full of concentrated red plum, cherry and currant flavors, backed suave, medium-grained tannins. The finish offers a caressing palate of lush spice, cocoa powder and cream nuances.”…..184.99

MATETIC ACONCAQUA “CORRALILLO WINEMAKERS” RED BLEND’13 – “The good climate blend 2013 Winemaker’s Blend Corralillo is Syrah-based and then there is some 33% Malbec and 18% Cabernet Franc from their El Rosario vineyard, where they have the older plantings, plus a pinch of Petit Verdot. The grapes are destemmed and crushed and put in one open-top tank by gravity. There is a seven-day cold soak and then fermentation starts. Malolactic is in barrels where the wine matured for 16 months. The blend is done at the end, before bottling. They look for hillside vineyards as they get the expression of Syrah with more red fruit and less black olives, fresher, which goes better with the floral aromas of Malbec, and the chocolate and tobacco notes of Cabernet Franc. The nose is very showy, floral, aromatic, intense and clean with integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and the freshness of place, as well as the 2013 growing conditions. There are not that many cool climate blends.”…….64.99

NEYEN COLCHAGUA “ESPIRITU DE APALTA” RED BLEND’08  80% Carmenere, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Inky deep maroon. Big plum character, with ample cinnamon, dark chocolate, and vanilla notes.
