VERAMONTE MAIPO “PRIMUS” CABERNET SAUVIGNON’13  The 2013 Primus Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from 30-year-old vines in Puente Alto in Maipo, the classical zone for Cabernet Sauvignon in Chile. This is the only wine they produce from purchased grapes, in this case from a producer called Mariscal who has 30-year-old vines on the alluvial terrace of the Maipo River. This is fermented in open-top tanks with indigenous yeasts. They want softer and more drinkable wines in the Primus series than what the line used to be in the past. This has all the classical descriptors of Maipo Cabernet, but in a subtle way, none of the aromas sing in a higher voice and there is good balance and harmony. The palate is medium-bodied, with very good balance, drinkable and approachable.”………………..39.99

VINA ALMAVINA CHILE “PUENTE ALTO”’00 – CELLAR AGED SELECTION –“The currant, cedar, mineral and cocoa flavors smolder underneath the fleshy, enveloping mouthfeel, with a wall of ripe, finely grained tannins taking over on the smoky finish. Not quite as dense as top vintages, but still clearly outstanding. Cabernet Sauvignon with Carmenère”………….133.99

VINA MONTES SANTA CRUZ “FOLLY SYRAH”’05 – “Dense and layered, with lots of fig, black currant paste, mocha and black licorice flavors, all supported by muscular, but ripe and well-embedded structure.  Long, dark finish has lots of  power in reserve, but shows fine harmony already. The best-balanced vintage so far for this powerful Syrah.”…129.99

VINA MONTES COLCHAQUA VALLEY ALPHACABERET SAUVIGNON’12  Offers a shot of green spice to the dark cherry and roasted plum flavors. Tarragon, licorice and dark chocolate notes flood the powerfully tannic finish.”……45.99
