When Ehren Jordan and Anne-Marie Failla were students at Sewickley Academy, they never dreamed that one day they would be married or that Ehren, who went on to major in Art History at George Washington University, would be considered one of the finest winemakers in California. Ehren Jordan’s interest in wine began at his part time job as a stock boy at Bell’s Wine Shop in Washington D.C. After graduation he worked for a large wine distributor in Colorado before traveling to Napa and landing a job at Joseph Phelps. At Phelps he was tutored by Bruce Neyers before heading to France to learn winemaking. He returned a few years later and went to work for Helen and Larry Turley and helped Bruce Neyers build his own winery.
Today, in addition to making outstanding small production Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for Failla, he continues to direct winemaking at Neyers and is Viticulturalist at Turley Wine Cellars! In the mid nineties, Erhen reconnected with globe trotting, investment banker Anne-Marie Failla. Anne-Marie is now CFO of a winery that bears her name – thanks to the fact that there was already one Jordan Winery! Failla is a well known name in Western Pennsylvania; Anne- Marie’s dad heads Tri State Orthopaedics and her brother Paul was a two sport star and former quarterback at Notre Dame! We are so happy that Erhen and Anne-Marie are coming home for the holidays and sharing their exclusive wines with our guests. Stan “the Wine Man” Lalic brings back the best of Italy with his “Barbaresco Smackdown” on Friday, December 2. Stan has traditionally held a December Wine Dinner at the Carlton, but this year’s event promises to be extra special! Six Barbarescos – all rated 95 points or better – will be savored and complemented with outstanding cuisine!
