Fridays KidsPlay in Market Square

Moms and Dads, don’t miss this free event, Friday, August 20th 2010 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in Market Square.

All Pre-School-aged children are welcome at Fridays KidsPlay in Market Square. Kids will enjoy fun and educational programs like book readings and arts and crafts. They may even meet a local celebrity or two!

After KidsPlay, you can explore Downtown Pittsburgh’s urban playground or see the fountain at PPG Place and Plaza. Lunch at any of Market Square’s  cafes, a visit to Point State Park, or a walk in the riverfront will complete a funfilled day for your kids!

Lunch on Liberty at the August Wilson Center
August 12th 2010 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Every Thursday through September 2nd, enjoy an outdoor lunch with The August Wilson Center.

The August Wilson Center’s patio is located at 980 Liberty Avenue, Downtown. Bring your own lunch or enjoy the tasty fare of Cory’s Deli, who will be grilling right on our patio each Thursday in July during lunchtime. While you are eating, relax and enjoy live entertainment each Thursday by various local artists, and take advantage of free WiFi.

August 12th 2010 from Noon – 1:00 p.m. at Market Square
Enjoy live entertainment from talented Pittsburgh-based bands while shopping at the Farmers Market or just  enjoying a summer lunch outside. The concert series is produced by KDKA Radio and Star 100.7.

Free Friday Walking Tour (Fourth Avenue & PPG Place)
August 13th 2010 from Noon- 1:00 p.m.
Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation want to take you on a free one-hour guided walking tour that explores Fourth Avenue & PPG Place. Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation give a tour every month from May through September, so join them this month and learn about your hometown, Pittsburgh.

A Salute to America. From the 17th-20th come to Heinz Hall to raise the flag for a patriotic salute to America with Marvin and well-known Western Pennsylvania native and musician, B.E. Taylor. This Pittsburgh premiere presents classic American songs including “God Bless America,” “This Land is Your Land,” and “The Star Spangled Banner” along with Taylor’s original orchestration, a moving rendition of The Pledge of Allegiance. The Pittsburgh Orchestra.

Free Walking Tour. Friday, June 18th meet in PNC’s new Triangle Park at Fifth and Liberty Avenues for a FREE one-hour guided walking tour, compliments of the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, which offers tours May through September with a different tour each month. In June, the Market Square Area Walking Tour is offered, focusing on the redevelopment of Market Square and it’s efforts to incorporate historic preservation, as well as “green” building principles.
