Fancy Nancy and Other Story Books

The Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater, a division of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, begins the 41st Family Series with Theatreworks USA’s revue of Fancy Nancy and Other Story Books!

Fancy Nancy and Other Story Books, performed by a five-member cast, is based off of six different best-selling children’s books. It is designed to incorporate various issues, ideas and themes related to growing up.

The books include: Fancy Nancy, Duck for President, Babymouse: The Musical, I Have to Go!, Leonardo the Terrible Monster, and Pirates Don’t Change Diapers.

This Friday, July 16th, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. join the Cultural District Market for a tour of Pittsburgh art.

This quarterly showcase of art and entertainment at various Cultural District galleries and arts spaces is brought to you by the Trust Education & Community Engagement.

BNY Mellon Jazz Presents JazzLive
JazzLive is a free, year-round live jazz series taking place at The Cabaret at Theater Square, Backstage Bar, and Katz Plaza. Open to the public, this popular Pittsburgh Cultural Trust music series showcases some of the region’s finest jazz musicians every Tuesday from 5pm – 11pm in the heart of the Cultural District.

In the summer, live jazz moves outdoors to Katz Plaza from 5pm – 7pm
Dining and drinks are available at the Backstage Bar.

Market Square Farmers Market
Thursday, July 15th 2010 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Market Square
Check out the best market Downtown. With hot pierogies, fresh flowers, berries, baked goods, and over 50 varieties of produce, this market has it all! New this year…Clover Creek Cheese Cellar. The Farmers Market is programmed by Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), in conjunction with the Thursday lunchtime concert programmed by CBS Radio.

Gallery Crawl in the Cultural District

Audiences will be transported to an exciting, and altogether fantastic reality that gives grand license for song, dance and spectacle in a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience!

Led by the creative team of director Jerry Zaks (La Cage Aux Folles, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Everybody Loves Raymond), book writer B.T. McNicholl (Billy Elliot, Spamalot, Cabaret) and composer Dennis DeYoung (founding member of the rock group STYX, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), THE 101 DALMATIANS MUSICAL also features a surprise grand finale showcasing the tremendous talents of the professional and rescued Dalmatians that will leave audiences cheering! Shadyside Art Festival on Walnut Street. From May 22nd-23rd Walnut Street in Shadyside will transform into a living, breathing art gallery with 150 exhibitors from around the nation. Like all Howard Alan events, the Shadyside Art Festival is a juried show, which means each participating artist is hand-selected from hundreds of applicants to ensure a first-class festival with only the highest quality, original artwork. All of the work on display is available for purchase, and with prices ranging from $15 earrings to $50 prints to $20,000 sculptures, there is always something for everyone.
