It was certainly a difficult weekend to be a sports fan in Pittsburgh!
Pitt needs to rebuild, the Pirates forgot how to win a game and the Steelers were outclassed in Denver! However, the football season is young and the Pirates are playing meaningful games in September for the first time in decades! And, it is not too late for us to sneak into the playoffs so please keep the faith!
Headed to one of the games? Remember to start your evening right by coming to the Carlton for a pregame dinner! Parking is free and fares via the T at both Allegheny Station, which is next to Heinz Field, and the North Side Station, which is next to PNC Park, are included in the Downtown free fare zone.
Holidays and wine go hand in hand! Our new “Wine Library” is a wall of red wine that showcases every varietal, price and vintage. Stan “the Wine Man” Lalic brings back the best of Italy with his “Barbaresco Smackdown” on Friday, December 2. Stan has traditionally held a December Wine Dinner at the Carlton, but this year’s event promises to be extra special! Six Barbarescos – all rated 95 points or better – will be savored and complemented with outstanding cuisine! We have long enjoyed a great partnership with Stan and his presence in Pittsburgh really strengthens our connections to well made, small production Italian gems! Our dinner starts at 6:30PM with culinary offerings by Chef Mark Swomley. Click here for more information on the event and our special Barbaresco wine selections and menu. We hope to see you there!
